Ashley grew raised in the Louisiana town of Bossier City, surrounded by family and friends. She was working as a teacher at Bolton High School.
"She was well-liked and outgoing. She was the most outgoing person I knew "Ashley is brilliant, well-liked, and full of life, according to Scott's sister Kecia Vekovius.
"She would simply become friends with everybody," best friend Lori Machen mentioned.
However, such a fun person was a silent victim of domestic abuse.
Jeffrey reportedly contacted 911 at about 3:46 p.m. on November 23, 2006, to report that his wife was bleeding and wounded and required emergency medical attention.
According to reports, his buddy Dr. Robert McGee was already on the scene, performing CPR on Ashley. She was brought to the hospital, but she did not survive.
Her death was judged to be the result of blunt force trauma, which resulted in a skull fracture and brain damage. She was also said to have several injuries on her body, including a shoe print.
Authorities questioned Jeffrey right away, and he admitted that they had clashed the night before about a text message from another man, which had escalated to violence.
He stated that he only struck her once, according to reports. Her autopsy report and ultimate medical examination, however, showed a different narrative.
According to medical examiners, her body exhibited several injuries from previous maltreatment, indicating a history of abuse.
